Matilda had just switched twenty-two bottles of re-strained prune juice with the energy drinks provided for the contestants who were starting the race in Manhattan's "A Salute to the Lady's marathon that started in Battery Park across from the Lady, herself. First, they'd all hailed the Lady in the Harbor for luck and held their torches as proudly as she. Then they took a swig of Matilda's Dad's special "energy drinks" (giggle, giggle) and raced off on their 28.5 miles up the Hudson to Tarrytown, wanting so desperately to be the first to rip up the Old Winkle.

Winkle, however, was not the famous Rip Van. . . it was a treasure box buried along the Hudson River between Sing Sing Prison and Sleepy Hollow Road by an Algonquin speaking Dutch pirate who carried a wooden leg just in case he might need it (records don't indicate if he used it or not. SAD!)

With the real energy drink, Matilda's strength lasted for days, but the others, OH GOD! Well, if you had drunk several bottles of prune juice, re-strained or not, what the hell would you be doing?

Matilda is living happily now in Tribeca in a thirty-seven-million-dollar condo and still dreams of prunes since she invested the rest of her winning pirate fortune in prune farms and Porta-Potties and gets everyone going and coming.
