An Introduction

America in the ninteen-sixties was all about turmoil and that is the way the characters in "Singer Without a Song" find each other. Two boys in a typical surburban high school meet and soon realize this is the defining moment in their lives.
Surrounded by the emotional chaos of a youth culture gone defiant, John and Alan aspire to a greater good, both for themselves and the madness they see in American society. Against a backdrop of anti-war protesters, drag queens and Buddhist monks, the surburban soap opera unfolds.
There is a power for goodness that develops as these young men of such diverse backgrounds discover one another. They soon learn that between them they control a mighty gift, one that can stop a war or bring the world to its knees, it will be their choice. Can two such different people learn to love one another, or will the knowledge they find tear them apart?
This coming of age story gives the reader a view of John's upbringing as an Army brat while understanding the boy's need for consolation which he finds in the Buddhist philosophy. Alan is cast as the typical suburban teenager with more than a little knowledge of the the gay community, and through him we meet a variety of personalities that define gay society.
There is no love like that found through adversity and these boys have seen their share of pain and anxiety. "Singer Without a Song" speaks to a wide audience about gay people, young and old, that share the experience of living life to the fullest and sometimes suffering the consequences.
This is a work of fiction. Any similarity to real people is purely coinsidence. This story will describe the love between two teenage boys. By clicking on the chapter links, you acknowledge that you are aware of the story contents and are of age to read it. Thank you.
